How to Practise Job Interviews With AI (And Get Honest Feedback)

By Zyctra Team · · 5 min read

Practice is the most reliable way to improve at interviews, but finding someone to practise with — who knows your field and will give honest feedback — isn't easy. AI mock interviews fill that gap: available any time, tailored to your profession, and honest.

What an AI mock interview can do

  • Ask realistic questions for your specific profession and level
  • Follow up on your answers like a real interviewer
  • Score each answer and explain what was missing
  • Let you repeat the same question until your answer is strong
  • Help you practise speaking, not just writing

How to practise with Zyctra, step by step

  1. Open Interview Practice from the menu.
  2. Choose the interview type: job interview, technical, behavioural or licensure exam.
  3. Choose your profession — nursing, medicine, engineering, software, law, accounting, teaching, skilled trades and many more.
  4. Choose the difficulty. Start with medium; move to hard when you're scoring well.
  5. Start typing — or tap Voice Mode to answer out loud. Speaking is closer to a real interview and builds confidence faster.
  6. Read the feedback. Each answer gets a score from 1 to 10 and specific advice. Try the question again using the feedback.

How to get the most out of it

  • Practise like it's real: sit up, speak clearly, and don't pause the session to look things up.
  • Use the STAR method for behavioural questions and watch your score rise.
  • Focus on your weak spots: if you struggle with salary or weakness questions, ask for more of them.
  • Do short, regular sessions in the week before an interview rather than one long session.
  • Paste the job advert into the chat and ask for questions based on it.

What AI practice can't replace

Research on the company, a mock interview with someone in your field if you can get one, and a good night's sleep before the real thing. Use AI practice to build fluency and confidence so you can focus on connecting with the interviewer on the day.
